Lady Panthers Handle Business On The Road

Huntsville, AL- Philander Smith University traveled to Huntsville and took on Oakwood University this past weekend. And guess what? Our team came out on top, winning in three sets (25-23, 25-15, 25-12). Philander really handled business against the Ambassadors, not dropping a single set. The first set was a close one with the Lady Panthers only winning that set by a difference of 2. The next two sets Oakwood would be no match for PSU as the ladies kept them from getting more than 15 points per match.

Ja'Niya Sanders showed her skills, finishing the game with 9 kills, 6 digs, and a hitting percentage of .208. Kiah Ruckers also made a notable impact with 7 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .417. And let's not forget about Adrianna Evans, who contributed with 6 kills, 9 digs, and a hitting percentage of .211. Last but not least, Essence Wren had an incredible performance with 23 assists, 8 digs, and 4 serving aces. 

These amazing achievements just go to show the talent and teamwork of our incredible team. This win set the Lady Panthers record to be 6-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. PSU will take on Texas A&M Texarkana on the road Wednesday September 20th, to compete in a non conference match.
